The Antidote to SELF-PITY.

Published: Mon, 12/16/13

"Self pity is easily the most destructive of the non-pharmaceutical narcotics; it is addictive, gives momentary pleasure and separates the victim from reality." ~John Gardner

Good morning !  I am now organizing my content in a new way so that more of you can get the gist much easier and then go deeper if you desire.

If you or someone you know is prone to self-pity and the infection that accompanies it, then this newsletter should be a tremendous help.

There is nothing like the holidays to bring some folks into the ultimate pity party.  I created some content on my blog that can help you, but here are the basics:

5 Things to know:
  1. Self-pity often begins with comparisons.
  2. Self-pity runs on rails that we build over the long haul.
  3. Self-pity fuels a purpose.
  4. Self-pity is just false humility.
  5. Self-pity has many faces.
Recognize any of these?
  • "I never win.'
  • "I suck."
  • "I'm going inward."
  • "I'm going to test you."
What is the antidote?
  • Perspective
  • Humility
For those weighted by self-pity. A new perspective today will ensure that your tomorrow is something you won't feel sorry about.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Holiday Season.

Neumaudio: Your grace finds me.
I've had a few of you suggest that I add the lyrics to the songs that appear in Neumaudio. I will do this because I believe more people will capture the richness of this newsletter if they experience the beauty and art and message that is presented in music. So often people wonder if God exists, and yet his voice is everywhere if we just know how to listen. Everybody is singing about him.

In light of Christmas and gift giving, this song is about a wonderful gift of grace. Experienced in the up's and down's, big and little of life.

So here you go:
It's there in the newborn cry
There in the light of every sunrise
There in the shadows of this life
Your great grace

It's there on the mountain top
There in the everyday and the mundane
There in the sorrow and the dancing
Your great grace
Oh such grace

[CHORUS:]
From the creation to the cross
There from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me, yes your grace finds me

It's there on a wedding day
There in the weeping by the graveside
There in the very breath we breathe
Your great grace

The same for the rich and poor
The same for the saint and for the sinner
Enough for this whole wide world
Your great grace
Oh such grace

There in the darkest night of the soul
There in the sweetest songs of victory
Your grace finds me
Yes your grace finds me
