You are here!
The Perception of Insignificance
Good Morning ! -- I hope your week is off to a great start.
We
live in a very big world.
We live in an increasingly growing population with an untold number of occupations, hobbies, pastimes, and agenda's of each and every person.
In my coaching I've had a number of conversations where people feel terribly insignificant. They look at the sea of people and the established paths to mastery and it causes them to want to just shut down
and hide.
This is usually an indication that we are not living within the bent of our passions. It means our life's obligations and activities do not stem from the way in which we are uniquely created. In other words, we have lost touch or never discovered our true self and with it our true purpose.
A sense of significance is directly
related to a sense of purpose.
If this is you, can I encourage you to consider a few things.
You are not alone in the world. Feeling insignificant is place we all visit. Just don't believe the lies that enable you to stay there.
A life purpose is not easy for most people to find. Understanding the bent of our true self is not an obvious journey. It
takes a lot of intentional personal discovery to unearth.
Start with one thing you really enjoy. Something that is just yours. Then become a student of that thing. Take one step toward it each week and within no time, you will no longer be a novice. You may be years from mastery, but you are connecting your passion to your life. (THIS IS VITAL)
Develop new friends who share this passion. As you enlarge your community, you will learn much faster and have shared
experiences with others which meets a vital need in our humanity.
Don't talk yourself out of this process. Don't tell yourself you can't afford it. Don't tell yourself you don't have time. Don't martyr your REAL self. You will have to lose a part of your life (the part you think is insignificant) to gain this other part, but it is worth it.
As you learn and grow in your passion, your passion actually
grows you. The reason we feel stuck or lost is because our life is going by and we are forfeiting our truest self. When we do this, we are actually robbing the rest of the world of the unique gifts that accompany our passion. Therefore, when we do this for ourself, we do this for others and our purpose emerges, along with contentment and well-being.
In the end, you are not insignificant. Never minimize your contribution to the world. Never compare your contribution to others. Begin seeing the crowds not as competition, but those who may need what only you bring.
If I can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Have a great week.

"Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it." Luke 17:33
A few years ago I wrote a book that summarized the conclusions of my doctoral thesis. I have been retooling this work and it is almost ready.
If you have ever struggled in any area of personal development and found that personal change was very hard and seemed
impossible, then this book is for you.
I am so convinced that the ideas in this book will help those who read and apply it that I am going to give it away for free.
Please keep a watch in the coming weeks for its arrival and how you can get your copy.
Also, sign up for my other book "Oblivious" which is also nearing completion.
