Frustration
The Divine Impulse: Part 2
"Expectation is the mother of all Frustration." ~Antonio Banderas

Good morning --Last week we examined how creativity is expressed in all of us and how it is an impulse that can be "reasoned" out of our lives with endless excuses. Today we look through the portal of FRUSTRATION to see and touch the transcendent realities of life.

While some people have difficulty with the idea of an invisible, omnipresent God, almost no one would argue against the omnipresence of frustration.

The heart of this idea is that we can all imagine the world slightly better than it is. There is something within each of us that discerns between:

  • Horrible and bad
  • Bad and Good
  • Good and Better
  • Better and Best
Discernment indicates that something "ought" to be a particular way, but isn't. The "ought" is almost always exposed via frustration.

The interesting thing is that an "ought" is ultimately an ethical consideration because it assumes that an aspect of the truth can be apprehended and applied.  And that is how we connect all the dots.
  • In the common form, frustration exposes our wants and it is the pain of not getting what we want.
  • But in a higher form, frustration exposes the truth and it is the pain of not being aligned with it.
Frustration is the outsider who lacks the necessary truth (resources, knowledge, tools) to make the necessary positive correction that we have discerned is needed in the world.

We can test this. The next time you are frustrated, ask yourself what it is that you DON'T KNOW or what it is that you WON'T DO.  If you lack the tool to fix your engine, or the ingredient for that recipe, or the time to fulfill your responsibilities, then you are feeling the pain of the outsider who can see into something.

If we want to end frustration, we must ask, seek and knock. We must be willing to listen and to change. We must become humble students and learn, we must be diligent students and apply what we learn. There is no subject in the world where this doesn't apply. Everything is designed to fight us so that none of us can possibly miss this.

The moment we possess the truth, frustration dissolves.  So please don't waste your frustration by being head strong.

Have a great week.
