"If we see homosexuality and sexual immorality as equal, we will err by either condemning both or affirming both. Wisdom knows the difference. " ~Keven Winder
Once again our country is divided over an issue.  This week the issue has made the front page when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality to the disappointment of team evangelical.

Most people have an opinion on this subject, I'm sure you do. What is important to consider is that opinions change and that is a sign of progress, not decline.  Jesus said that the new kingdom that he was ushering in was like new wine that wouldn't fit into an old wine skin (Matt 9:17). In other words, old containers and systems can accommodate the expansion of what is coming.

Despite some of the rhetoric, most conservatives do not hate gays as they are negatively portrayed (some do though). What they hate is compromise.

You see, for them the Bible is authoritative, which means they believe people need to seek to understand it and obey it. That is why so many will quickly conclude that if one is affirming of gay marriage, then they have turned loose of the bible, or that they don't really believe it. I have proven this is not the case.

If you are a conservative or someone who hasn't really thought through this issue, can I encourage you to take the time and read or listen to what I have said on this subject? I can show you how to be affirming without compromising your commitment to biblical authority.  I have taken the time to create not only a detailed blog post (You can access HERE), as well as Podcast (You can Access the 4 part series HERE)

For those of you who already affirm homosexuality, can I invite you to listen as well, because it is far too easy to err in the same way but on the other side of the issue.  In the same way that conservative people err by seeing homosexuality and sexual immorality as the same thing and thus condemn both, so can progressive people see them as the same thing and thus affirm both.  Wisdom calls us to know the difference, and these resources will help make this more clear.

Thanks for taking the time to review one or both of the resources below.
