The common perspective is that our day is often consumed with distractions and interruptions that take us off task, and the common solution is to emphasize time management. I don't disagree with this conclusion, but I wonder if it is really enough to just remind ourselves of this every so often.
After some contemplation, it seems to me that there is some culpability on our part with regard to distractions, meaning that there is a choice we make to give each distraction an ear.
Since life is full of these kinds of choices, then our original issue of time management is really about priorities, and which voice that is vying for our attention actually gets it.
The loss of a workday, then, is actually much more than loss productivity, our day becomes a display of how our hope for life and our resolve interact.
If we lose too many, we don't just lose our work, we actually lose our selves.
A good change to consider would be to make a list of 5 things everyday and at the end of the year you will have accomplished more than 1300 step toward your best work andtoward your life.
Have a great week.
