Thought of the Week:
November 19-Thanksgiving Special
"Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver!  The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!"

        ~Psalm 50:22-23

The Thanksgiving that Costs Us...

I know , you are probably thinking; "What is up with that quote?" The truth is, I didn't want to regurgitate on you the typical soup of the holidays. After all, if this is a worthwhile group then there needs to be worthwhile thoughts to think about.

So if there is a God, and he is saying something in this bible verse, he seems to have a disposition that most church people don't talk much about, but it is one I think we can appreciate. Here are a few of my observations:
    1. Real thankfulness actually costs us something.
    2. Real thankfulness can see how fragile our lives really are.
    3. Real thankfulness means we will try and be better today than we
        were yesterday.
    4. Real thankfulness means we can hope for more.

I think when David wrote this Psalm, he knew just the kind of person we all are, that is why he finished Psalm 50 by writing Psalm 51...
Thank You!
I mean it with all sincerity when I say that I am thankful for all of you. Yes this is an email blast, but I am cognizant and prayerful of each person on this growing list. I hope this weekly newsletter inspires and challenges you in your personal and professional life.  I'm thankful that each week you are willing to give a little bit of time for us to join our minds and hearts.

Is there prayer at your table?
Surrounding our Thanksgiving table is usually a very diverse crowd. Prayer can seem awkward. It doesn't need to be, you can follow Linus' lead.

Are you thankful for your job?
We all have bad days at work. Sometimes they turn into bad months or years. Take a minute and consider your job and the fact that you actually have one. If it is remotely in your field and aligned with your interests and passions, then you are way ahead of the curve. There is a sea of people who would be truly grateful to have your job, even if your not thrilled with it right now. It can all change as quickly as you can change your attitude.

Americans enjoy Thanksgiving tradition of sitting around at airport.

I'm thankful for THE ONION and our sense of humor.

"...You know, my father used to bring me to this same airport when I was a kid, it still smells the same..."

Forward this to your friends and colleagues...
The "Thought of the Week" can be a neat tool or talking points for those in your life. Think, learn, laugh. We are all getting better.
